Hi there

We just had our shower rebuilt/tiled/new hardware etc.

The water does not get as hot as it used to.

We have a great contractor and I will certainly ask him about our situation but was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else.

I hope the problem is not the handle...

The new one is at "off" at a straight down "6 oclock" angle and is fully on at a "3 oclock" angle.

Our previous handle I think was fully on at "12 oclock"

Thoughts

thanks,

The handle has an adjustment inside. I don' know all the names of the parts, but have the contractor or his plumber adjust. Any good plumber will know immediatly what to do to increase the hot.

Yup, I've had to do this. It's very simple, and something you should be able to do yourself. If your setup is like most, you'll need to remove the shower control handle, then the round escutcheon plate. Behind that you'll see a little anti-scald control device that you should be able to adjust to allow more hot water to mix with the cold.

Shot in the dark...

Did you move the showerhead higher? Put in a low-flow showerhead with an air mixer?

Either of those things can greatly reduce the perceived temperature of the water.

We did have the shower head moved higher yes, but I dont think it is "perceived" as I did move my hand to the shower head as the water ran - good idea though.

Thanks all, I will try to adjust the "scald control" and will check back.
