For some months now I have been having mice (mouse) problems in the house. I have done everything I humanly know to do but they or it is still around. I find little droppings on the carpet, on the countertops, in the closet, etc. To rid of them I have:
1. put out mice traps with cheese/peanut butter
2. put out poison - decon i think it is - they wont touch it
3. some cubed type of food that is poison
4. glue traps - even glue traps with peanut butter
5. have checked for holes, plugged up what areas I thought they could get in.
6. some type of packets that they supposedly like to open and eat - still unopened after months.
I am at my wits end and if anyone has any suggestions I look forward to hearing from you.

Looks like you've tried everything. Mice suck. I live on a farm and we periodically have issues with them. Best solution I have had "CATS"
Our 127 yr old home was full of the little pesties when we moved in. Took awhile to get rid of them. They were really bad during cold weather. I for one can say my cat was worthless.
I used regular mouse traps. I'd load them with either a half a gummybear wedged on it or peanut butter with a piece of dogfood on it.
Location was everything! Between the fridge & wall. Laundryroom where it was dark etc. We put away dog/cat food at night. I made sure all of my chips, cereals, bread etc were in tupperware containers.
Seal off any gaps aroung sink pipes etc whre they might be getting in. They come in because they have access to a food source!
I also prefer those 'V' traps. They're less touchy & can be reused. Ick..I know.
Oh yeah, another nifty trick.
Rinse & dry a milk jug. Sprinkle birdseed in bottom. (just a bit)
Leave lid OFF! Set against a wall on floor. Mice like to get in to get the food but rarely get out. Then release mouse down a few miles on a neighbor or recap it toss it & learn to live with the guilt.

the vermont country store sells a trap that the mouse goes into and the door closes so they cant get out. then you can set them free, you dont even need to touch them. my bichon would smell where they were. i also got a cat which was a big help. i was leary of poison because of pets.

I have one of those. I smeared peanut butter in the rear of it. Sure nuff caught one. Problem was, he must've been in there allllllll night. When I found him he was all wet & steamy in there. He was frantically trying to dry himself by cleaning his fur. I felt baaaaaaaaaad. I cracked the wee door & quickly drove him to a field. I swear he musta lost 10 ounces. Mouse sauna! LOL

We had a mouse. Once. Must not have had a sense of smell or he had a death wish. Once the cats got done playing with him he pretty much keeled over on his own - they didn't kill him but they did chase him all over the house for maybe 10 minutes, batting at him when he slowed down. 5 cats seem to be a serious impediment

That's a weird story but funny. Reminds me of the time I had a neighbour who had really horrible mice problems. She used to just flush them....until one day when she had a huge plumbing problem. I also had a cairn terrier for quite a few years, and raised wire-foxed terriers. Those little guys are natural-born ratters. Definitely worth loving and having around. I've heard that the English (who of course bet on absolutely everything!!!), used to have pits they threw rats/mice in and then put in the dogs(one at a time) for a "timed rat kill".
