We are renting a house now and I'm thinking ahead to next April when our lease is up and we're going to try to make a move to Florida (and I want to get most, if not all of our deposit back). At any rate, I had put area rugs down in the living room on wood laminate floor and another one in the dining room on white tile floor using double sided carpet tape and I now know the tape is sticking to the floor more than the rugs so I'm dreading what kind of job that is going to be getting all that carpet tape/adhesive off of there. Does anyone have any tips for making it easier to get off the floors but without damaging the respective tile/wood laminate floors?

Thank you for any help!

Tile Magic (it may be Tile and Grout Magic.) I had to find it at a local hardware store but, how it cleans. We had wood glue on our tile floor and some of the tile glue as well and a red rust stain that I had tried steaming, bleaching etc etc and nothing worked. Tile Magic, you spray it on and let it sit for 5 minutes and wipe away. It was one of the products you come across that actually works.

For the larger spots of glue - I did have to use a scraper.

Traditionally, this was a job for lighter fluid or kerosene.

I forgot what they use on glass, might be as simple as glass cleaner with ammonia. For a less chemical option, I'd go with something like Goo Gone or Goof Off. Or lemon juice. Something with a citrus base to it.

One product that I personally found that worked wonders for me is called Krud Kutter. But I prefer to recommend things that you can buy anywhere...like the Goo Gone.

I'll remind you that you must be caustious about ruining the floor while removing adhesive.
So read the warnings on any of these products suggested.
My suggested product: WD-40. It will work. Afterword the area will be slick, so make sure you wipe up the area with a mild cleaner for wood.
