Almost. DAP is trash. DAP adhesive is worse trash. GE 100% silicone is the best. Sorry I seemed to have put you down on that. You were correct saying silicone, just the wrong brand. DAP makes good paintable caulk and that is it.

I seen it and I just cleared it up. But it's good to know you can sense genius when you see it. Here is the deal. When people are given bad information then it will cost them money. That is wrong. Just trying to help here.

Thanks everyone. At least now I know that I have what is known as an undermount sink without any screws or mounting brackets. I'm very glad I didn't slap that black stuff on. I probably need to hire a professional if it involves taking apart the plumbing.

I don't think replacing the entire counter top and sink is an option at this point. I would have to change the other sink and countertop as well to match, because this is in my master bath. Plus it's a beautiful counter and sink that I hate to part with.

I do appreciate your help.

I happen to believe Liquid Nails would be best. They sell one specifically for Marble and Granite.

there should be clips all the time. as well as adding silicone. just silicone or adhesive wont hold a sink long term.

I suggest that you call whatever dealer sells granite in your area and ask for their recommendation on who to fix it. They will have people who work with granite and with under-mounted sinks all the time. Just pay someone to fix it. I don't consider this a do-it-yourself job for a person with no experience.

(Yes, indeed, there are stone dealers somewhere near you. They are located in industrial areas but should have listing in the phone book. If you can't find the stone dealers, start calling contractors and ask where they buy their granite))

I don't think the clerks at the big box stores are idiots, but you have to remember they are minimum wage shelf stockers. If they really knew about construction, they would be out working in construction and earning 4 times as much.

I don't ask the clerk in the grocery store who is placing peanut butter on the shelves how to make coq au vin, either. They are being paid to stock shelves, not to be gourmet cooks.

Guys; you did notice this thread is "7" yo? It was resserected by a first time poster(ceedubb) that obviously doesn't know the holding power of 100% silicone caulk.
