I am building a new house and have not made up my mind for the appliance colors. I have friends who have stainless and hate the finger prints. I think they are attractive but am considering white. It seems when you go to shopping centers to look at appliances all you see is stainless or maybe a few that are black. What would you buy if you were to do it all over again? Currently I am looking at a refridgerator made by Samsung or LG, stove top and built in oven made by Electrolux, and not so sure on the dishwasher yet.

Well white will be cheaper, but keeping the grime off of 'em isn't a picnic either. I decided on a set of G.E. Profile in a situation like yours this year and the fingerprint issue is overstated imo. It's really not a big deal. You really don't have to wipe them off everyday. It's easy to grab a ss cleaner wipe and buff with a towel. I think the SS is timeless, but it is new and special to me.

I loved my stainless and didn't seem to have a huge fingerprint problem. I have black now in an apartment and I think it shows grime quicker than the stainless did. I love the look of stainless!

What do the cabinets look like and/or the rest of the kitchen? I would prefer stainless or black but it depends on everything else.

I think the fingerprints are a real concern with the stainless steel ones. When you watch the house shows you constantly hear how you have to have stainless appliances, but, like all fads, this is likely to pass, probably during the useful life of the appliances and before you're ready to sell the house.

We have migrated all our kitchen appliances to black over time and it looks great with our color palette. I would say go with what you like. I do think black shows the dirt and fingerprints less than either white or stainless.

Obviously this has a lot more to do with my own priorities so it may not apply to you.

Would high end stainless appliances fit in? My parents have a early to mid-70's era house that came with harvest gold appliances and kitchen sink. Installing a stainless fridge would be like putting a Mercedes hood ornament on a Ford Escort. With that said they opted for white appliances when they decided to upgrade and really it seems to fit in with the overall level of their house.

My first home was a starter home and wasn't really up to par with having all stainless appliances and granite countertops. And in the neighborhood we bought we didn't really see that stuff either. The kitchen was done in mostely neutral tones and the cabinets were a light stained maple. So we decided to go with Bisque appliances and we were very happy with that decision.

My current home that we bought last year is in a somewhat better neighborhood where you would expect to see better stuff in the kitchens so we went with stainless steel.

Fingerprints: Our fridge and dishwasher fronts are both a somewhat brushed finish so the fingerprints don't really show that bad but I think they do show more than our Bisque appliances we had before. The good thing about that is it makes it easier to tell when it's getting dirty and needs to be cleaned. Say if my son has been visiting the fridge with nasty hands....easy to notice and clean up.

I had black in an apartment and it looked dusty all the time. I couldn't stand it. My mom has white and I think it looks too sterile. I have stainless and haven't had a problem with fingerprints.

Knotty Alder Cabinets and either Hickory or Koa wood flooring.

Acutally I like Bisque as well kinda antique looking. However not to many manufactures making appliances in Bisque any more.
