Any ideas...less than 5yr old gas oven. Will heat up some, but not nearly to the say, 350' I punch in. Beeps 'it's ready' but clearly it is not very hot... ideas as to the problem or where to start looking before I call a repair person ( $$$)?
If its a free standing Oven, then most of the parts are easy DIY. If you are handy then replace the thermostat or the element(s). Both are inexpensive. If its the computer then look at replacement. Current repair rates put it to exceed $200 with basic parts. Usually for a few hundred more it becomes more economical to replace. I've seen labor rates nearly double (or triple) over the past three years. To give an example using the same company: I had a heat pump issue four years ago, it was $65 plus parts. My heat pump went on the fritz a few weeks ago and it was $150 plus parts.
It used to be flat rate for whatever they did, now it seems they have learned from the Airlines on billing for each service separatly.
I replaced an ignitor in one oven and a thermostat in a previous one without problem. With diagrams and parts available over the internet there is less need to call in a repair person.
