Since we're all a mobile bunch of Internet junkies, I thought posting photos of and/or describing our dream homes in a thread would be an awesome idea! I'll get the ball rolling: Here's my dream home in the Green Ridge Section of Scranton, PA:
I could just envision myself painting up in the third-story circular room in the turret and gazing over the rooftops of the other historic neighborhood homes or working on my latest murder-mystery suspense novel in the study. (I know, I have STEPHEN KING written all over me! LOL!) The yard fronts two major streets in the Green Ridge neighborhood, making it the perfect location for smashing annual "Block Parties", in which community bonds would be strengthened over hot dogs, burgers, and bottled water (no BEER for my friends; my father was almost killed in a drunk-driving collision back in 1995, and I'll never drink a drop of alcohol on that account). It would also be nice to trade in this suburban rat-race for something a bit more "walkable"---I can see my future life partner and myself walking the golden retriever, Parker, all along the tree-lined streets while the neighborhood children run up to play with him and we chat with their parents nearby. There's still something to be said for urban living, as much as the rest of you may think that sidewalk-less, treeless cul-de-sacs in Phoenix or New Jersey are the "wave of the future." As for me, I'll wet my pants if this home has hardwood floors! OOOOOHHHH!!! Stained-glass windows? French doors? A spiral staircase? AHHHH!!
My dream house would have two stories, 4 bedrooms (one for an office and/or exercise room) or 3 bedrooms & an office, 2½ baths, living room w/a bay window, den w/a woodburning fireplace (the den would be set-up with surround sound, just as our living room is now), formal dining room, large open kitchen w/ an island and a breakfast nook and a huge walk-in pantry, a walk-in closet in every bedroom, a front porch that is the length of the front of the house, a 2-4 car garage, a 4-car garage out back (for dh to work on cars in), a large front yard with mature trees (including dogwoods & eastern redbuds), a large fenced-in back yard with mature trees. The house would be in the country and would be Victorian. That's the dream anyway.
Scranton
We used to have block parties at our old Denver neighborhood--they were fun.
Niki
We had a redbud at our old Denver house; I cherished it but it never did very well and it finally died before we moved.
My dream home would be *somewhat* similar to Niki's.
Two story, plenty of porch, Old Florida style. Near the beach, not on it.
Could be in town or outside, don't need acreage.
Three beds, two baths. Master bath should have two sinks! (I miss that.)
Master bed would have lots of built-in shelves for books.
There should be a home office.
Large open kitchen with walk-in pantry. A french-door fridge like I had in Denver. Gas stove.
Open great room with views of trees. Part of the porch should be screened.
Maybe there would be a rinse deck outside for washing off that sand.
Actually, all I want for my dream house is basically what I had in Denver, but more beach style. If my spouse got his dream house, it would be much the same but probably have another room for shooting pool.
We almost bought the house below:
Since I was 9 year old, I have had a picture of my dream home, and it hasn't changed. I am simple. I want a yellow house, with green trim, shutter, and door...that has 4 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. A 2 car garage. An attic and a basement. I want 2 bay windows out front overlooking a nice size front yard that has a tree out front on either side of the windows, with flowers planted around the trees. I want a big side and front yard, and then have either a white or brown picket fence around my yard, that overlooks a mountain view. Thats it! Should be obtainable...just not where I live in southwest florida.
I loved living in Tahoe, and dreamed of buying a mountain/chalet-style home with a view of the Lake... this one isn't quite the style I imagine, but check out the views!!!! Oh, and it's listed at 2,695,000 (actually cheap for this type of home), and has 3300 square ft., 4 bedroom & 4.5 bath - located in Tahoe City:
As I said above, it's all about the views for me!! Here's another incredible home in Jackson, Wyoming... only $5,495,000 , 5734 square ft., 4 bedrooms & 3 baths - a bit more than I need, but these views are absolutely amazing:
Gizmo, that's my kind of house! Well, not the size and price, but, I would like to have a nice ranch-style log home, preferably with those vistas. Look at those views! (I grew up in Wyoming, in Star Valley, which is south of Jackson, so I know the area. Makes me homesick).

Isn't it stunning?? I visited Jackson Hole once (on a trip to Yellowstone), and thought it was such a beautiful town... seems like a great place to live!

My dream home
My dream home is located in the hills of western Ridgefield with miles the countyside views of northern Westchester County,NY. Built in 1998,it is listed for $4.4 million , with almost 17,000 square feet. It has 7 bedrooms, 9 full and 2 half baths, an indoor pool, gym, spa, and a to die for 2 story cherry library among the usual bells and whistles for a home in this price range. Located on 5.5 acres, there is space for me to build an outdoor pool and pool house and putting green.
