Yes,less padding and they move when you don't want them to.

If you have pets or kids...hardwood floors with area rugs. I have not met a steam cleaner yet that can keep up with the filth!!

I like hardwood flooring in my bedrooms. I do have pets and I think wall-to-wall hold pet odor. I also do not like to be committed to a color pallet when decorating. I paint every 4 years. If I want to change the decor I easily can. A new duvet and area rug with my hardwood. I would have to stick within the same color family. Area rugs can give you a great punch of color and design with out committtment.

i know that it's something you should stay away from , if you want a hardwood floor with going through the sanding staining and poly process and spend about the same as laminate you should get pre-finished hardwood .

Mulch. Entire house. Just make sure to put down a good moisture barrier first.

Carpet in the bedroom.
Carpet in the living room.
Carpet in the hallway.

As someone who, from the ages of 10 to 18 back in the '60's, had to dust-mop the painted wood floors in a big old 2-story 3000 sq farmhouse twice a week - I will never ever have wood floors.

Maybe if they'd had Swiffers back then I'd feel differently about it now

Thick, plush carpet for my cold feet. I shampoo my carpets about twice a year.
