we have one as well....... and I used fabric soft sheets .........and yet the smell is still there...

My hubby's grandparents purchased it at a yard sale days after getting married ... his oldest aunt inherited the piece and had it refinished / restored ......... when she passed my husband inherited the piece........... its beautiful with a marble top and all........... but I only store sheets and table clothes in it because of the smell.

I cant remember if I used febreeze or not ... now am wondering ...did u find something that worked?

I had a similar problem with kitchen cabinets in my small cottage. The cabinets smelled like the renter put unwashed clothes in them! I scrubbed with lysol, etc and nothing worked. At Lowes Home Improvement, someone recommended a product called ZORBX. It is safe - you spray it on. It worked after 2 applications. The labeling says it is used in hospitals, etc and is perfectly safe.
