Hi. We are needing to get a new hot water heater but we are stumped as what to get. We have called various places and have heard everything from get the basics to get the 'tankless hot water heater'.

We currently have a 50 gal that is 15 years old. We have a growing family of 5. We have 3 full baths. We'd like something energy efficent but also would like to have enough hot water for a few hot showers in a row (if the family is getting ready to go somewhere). We also have very hard water in our area.

We live in New Mexico so it isnt super cold here in the winter but we do get down into the 20's some nights.

If I need to answer other questions so that I can start to get a picture of where we need to look just post. I appreciate anyone's help in narrowing the search.
