I bought a rattan furniture set and the dresser smells like vomit. I've put scented candles in the drawers without improvement. I called the store where I purchased it and the store rep that I talked to said "We haven't had this problem before..." So of course I felt like the dumb blonde....

Any suggestions?
Call them back and tell the manager that they may not have had the problem before, but they have it now.
Tell them you want a replacement. And smell it before it gets off the truck and into your house.
Try spreading Arm & Hammer baking soda on plates and put them in the drawers to absorb the smell. I've also heard about cutting up apples and letting the slices absorb smells. I used both methods to get rid of the smell from a new tempurpedic mattress. It worked.
I have bamboo or rattan furniture that smells like BO. Especially the shelf unit, but not all the pieces. Fortunately, as time has passed the odor has dissipated. The furniture is in a sunroom with good ventilation, so I don't worry about it.
You can bet I would sniff any other furniture like this I ever buy, next time.
