I'm looking for a certain type of outdoor floodlight fixture. I want it to have motion detection, but instead of the floodlights being off when no motion is detected, I want it to be dimmed. Then, when motion is detected, the lights would go full bright. Does this make sense? I know there used to be a light fixture of this variety, but don't know if they're still available.
I think there are combo units which is a porch light type fixture and integrated to it is the standard motion flood component. I'd just run to Home Depot or Lowes and check that aisle out.

You are correct.
This is the exact one that I've been using for 4 years. It works great!
I don't see the porch light fixture on the link above. It just looks like a motion sensor.
Now I'm stumped. I couldn't find one. I thought i've seen combo units like what the original poster is looking for, a traditional lantern light with a motion sensor flood.

Sorry for the confussion. I thought OP wanted just a regular flood light. If you are looking for a wall style, this will do it.
I have one of these, I think it's a Heath-Zenith, mine is a double Halogen, it runs dim starting at dusk for a certain # of hours, it goes bright if motion is detected, the sensitivity is adjustable. I'm not certain if H-Z still makes this, I'd ask around at building supply stores. If you have an electrical supply store handy, they tend to be more knowledgable about electrical since they specialize in it.
Knowledgebuilder's idea is a good work-around if you can't find what you want ready to go out of the box.
