The wood flooring in one section of our house is starting to make creaking noises when walked on. Has anyone had this problem and if so who did you contact for a solution? Thanks!

If you have crawl space access you may be able to shim the sub-floor in the area of the creak to eliminate it. In other words, if you get under the house and have someone walk around in the section of the house that creaks, you may be able to see some motion in the subfloor that coincides with the creaking. If you wedge the end of a construction shim (I like the composite ones) between the floor joists and the subfloor where the creak is happening you may be able to stop it for about $5. Settling and movement and the accompanying creaks and pops are usually harmless and to be expected and most things can be fixed by the homeowner.
A floating installation means that the individual floorboards are not nailed down, just pieced together and lateral compression from one end of the room to the other is what keeps everything in place. This is not something that is done with real hardwood floors in my neck of the woods, although it may be different elsewhere.

Sounds like you're not looking for how-to advice to fix it yourself, so contact a hardwood flooring company in your area. They can diagnose it for you.
All hardwood floors are going to creak - at least a little bit.
We live in a rock-solid two-story brick house, built in 1929. Solid oak woodwork and floors throughout. Some of the floors creak in certain areas of certain rooms. That's just the way it is. We've long since gotten used to it.
On the other hand, if it worries you or really bothers you, call somebody who installs hardwood floors and ask their advice.
Yeah, try the baby powder trick first, smudge it into the cracks where it's creaking. It works if it's a newer creaking usually.
