I've got two electrical issues i'm trying to figure out. The first i'm trying to get two outlets in a bedroom to work off the light switch. Right now all are working/getting power, but none are working off the switch. I tried breaking off the tab on one of the receptacles, but it knocked out power to half the room and had to replace the outlet.
The second is i installed a new ceiling light fixture in a bedroom, but it also is not working off the switch (stays on all the time.) I replaced the lightswitch but still the same thing.
Unless the wiring for the wall outlets is run thru the wall switch, they won't operate from the switch.
When you installed the ceiling light fixture, did you run the wiring thru a switch leg? If not then it obviously won't work with a switch. If you did, then you wired it wrong.

There could be a myriad of explanations or possibilities, some of them intolerably dangerous. You don't need the internet taking potshots at your procedure, you need to call an electrician. This is probably something that experienced eyes can diagnose with a visual inspection and he or she should have things up and running in a couple of hours. If you pay attention, ask questions and help you will probably learn something.

My advice to you is that you not attempt to do any electrical work. How you would think breaking a tab off between the two halves of the socket would somehow make the light switch control the socket demonstrates a lack of basic electrical understanding.
You likely mis-wired the ceiling fan and by-passed the switched power from the switch. How many wires (and what color) were in the ceiling electrical box.

I understand your pain. I went to start the car and it just clicked but no power to the starter. I replaced the tires and still nothing. So i put in more anti-freeze and still won't start. My neighbor said its because of the wheel alignment. Have you tried switching out the plate covers to another color?

Folks, there is no need to be rude or disrespectful.
I've wired complete houses, and have over 30 years experience in wiring, etc.
Although this is a simple job, I would agree that getting an electrician would be a good idea.
If you like, you could always take a credit free class on wiring at your local college, or at least get a few good electrical books.....but you need to know what you are doing before just trying stuff.
Thanks for the advise from those that were helpful. I've done some wiring but not a pro by any sense and was just looking to see if it was something simple, but i'll give an electrician a call.

Honestly, I think that's the best idea.
I'm a relentless DIY cheapskate, but there are things that are pretty risky.
It sounds like you're not overly knowledgeable or experienced with electricity. The problem is that electrical mistakes could electrocute you or start a fire, as opposed to some other kinds of mistakes that would have lesser consequences. Some mistakes are ugly. Others can be fatal.
Good luck!
