My family and I have been looking at new homes in Eagle Springs. We're curious about which home builders are good and the ones to stay away from.

We've seen the JD Power results but I don't always buy into those results. They list Ashton Woods as their top pick.

By chance, does anyone have any input or experience to share?

Thanks in advance

We've lived in a Highland Home and a Trendmaker home. No problems with either. I don't know if either builder is still building new homes in Eagle Springs though.

Plenty of Highland homes to choose from, Trendmaker pulled out. Village Builders is also pretty good.

Thanks for the replies. Any feedback for Lennar and/or Ashton Woods?

Village Builder is the "upgraded" Lennar. I personally wouldn't do Lennar. They are okay, but you don't have a lot of options, or the chance of any sort of "custom" options to your house. Don't know too much about Ashton Woods, but they seem to have a good reputation. Have a friend building with them in the Barton Creek section.

I agree with Ihafer on not actually building with Lennar. Now I would purchase an inventory home but from ground up you g et zero options. It has been quite some time but when we sat down with them all you basically got to do was pick your brick and then they told you what lots they were building on with that choice and you would have to wait around till they got to that lot.

So, if you like what Lennar puts in the house - its not bad. But you give up the choices.

Ashton Woods looks pretty nice and comes with some decent options. Highland seems like they nickel and dime you hard for options. We need to do some more comparison shopping to verify that all.

And then there's all the existing homes. All in all, it's a lot to digest.

We'll see how Chesmar looks too - although their lots are smaller and I expect them to be more of a budget builder.

I'll be looking to buy within the next year, and Ashton Woods has really caught my attention in Eagle Springs... Highland, too.
