I wasn't bashing Houston. I was just being very curious.

I really think Publix will do good in Houston.

Safeway is Randalls/Pavilions/Vons. Shopped at all of them and HEB (especially those with Marketplace) is much better imho. I used to shop at an Albertsons in an upscale neighborhood but always found it lacking in variety.

I'm fine having access to both HEB & Kroger and really feel no need for yet another grocery chain.

HEB & Kroger are more than adequate for what I need. I go to local Asian markets for ethnic stuff and on the rare occasion make my way down to Whole Foods. I'm still longing for Trader Joe's though.

I don't know because HEB is huge here and that will be tough competition for Publix.

HEB's pretty cool, but they carry like 3 of everything, and sometimes those 3 are sold out. I've never in my life been to a store that was sold out of Miracle Whip, but HEB has been, twice.. and this is the HUGE new one in Pearland. Like the store, hate the stocking methodology on some sku's.

I've never been to HEB and they were sold out of what I wanted [except during hurricane season]. I guess it depends where you go.

Ya, but this is that big a$$ mega store that sells everything from Aardvark eggs to Zebra jowls. It's like 125,000 sq ft and they can't keep Miracle Whip on the shelf?

Like I said, I like shopping there but I find that really odd.
