Anyone else not too thrilled about all the people moving to Houston? It seems like everyday, I meet someone new who just moved here. I miss the days when Houston would be the city that flies under the radar. Dallas was always the city people thought of when they thought of Texas, and that was just fine by me because it meant that Houston was all mine. Urban sprawl is getting worse and worse. Home prices inside the loop are getting more and more unaffordable. Demand for these homes are on the rise and the cost is still considered cheap for folks coming out of California / East Coast and comparing prices there and here.

I just miss the days when Houston was a small town big city. Is it just me?

Within residental Houston I don't notice much difference. Still made up of small towns within the city. But just trying to get to point A from B, I notice the glut of cars getting thicker, drivers ruder. Getting OUT of town has become a nightmare in the evenings. 2 hours to get past Conroe...I wouldn't have believed it 10 years ago.

I don't mind the homes prices, I'm already in. Moving "up" will get more difficult for most for sure...definately with the 3% real estate sales tax that snuck in with the Health Care Bill and now The Prop 1 water fee if you have bigger house or lot.

Ps- I think most your Californians and East Coaster buy "cheap stock" aren't buying in the Loop...Cheap is 30 miles out.

Hmm, and all these years, I thought all the people moving to Houston was what made Houston... Houston.

We're a city built on growth, built for growth, and like a shark, we gotta keep moving or we die.

We need a border fence to keep all of the non-Texans out.

Question, if I'm from out of state, but have 2 Texan anchor babies, how long do I have to wait before they can sponsor me for permanent Texan status?

You should be happy for the reasons why Houston has a huge population boom. Be thankful because it could be much worse.

You can always move to Detroit, where it's getting rather....roomy.

10 years ago they were expanding 45 up that way and it took an hour to get through Conroe if you took off at the wrong time.
