Plans and Construction Photos - Houston Zoo

The area will have chimps also, new to the zoo, plus some of the African animals will be grouped in the new area.

So excited! I am moving to Houston area from Rhode Island this fall and am looking for lots of fun things to do with my children (2, and 6). I checked out the zoo and luckily it is reciprocal with my current zoo's membership!!

What, no HIPpos? Boo!

It's not an African exhibit without hippos!

That looks cool. It's about time Houston got better at having animal friendly exhibits that people can actually see. I have been disappointed in this zoo compared to the New Orleans Zoo, the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago and the Brookfield Zoo. This looks like they are modernizing in a good way.

Why? No recipes on the card along with the name of the animal?

LOL.

Photo ops in Houston's zoo are terrible, while they are much better in NOLA. It's a matter of how the exhibits are arranged for viewing more than anything else. Plus the animals need more room so I am glad to see Houston constructing better habitats.

New exhibits always = good news to me. IMO our zoo is pretty weak for a city this size.
