This was posted in the San Antonio Business Journal:

Quote:
Dennis Speigel, president of International Theme Park Services Inc., says multiple groups are pursuing plans for at least two separate theme parks in the Houston area.
One of those planned projects is a 1,600-acre mega resort which would be anchored by Earthquest Adventure, a new theme park slated for an area in Montgomery County north of Houston.

What caught my eye was the plans for two theme parks in the Houston area. I wonder what the other could be (maybe that Snow Mountain Park).

I just cannot see this EarthQuest thing possibly working in the long run. An amusement park didn't work in Houston...why would it work in New Caney? And the whole eco-thing is just so cheesy. Not that it wouldn't be nice to have something like it....but I just can't see enough people going to keep it alive.

oh, lord it is debbie downer again Are you even old enough to remember Astroworld?

Astroworld was doomed for a number of reasons, the biggest of which was bad management. Furthermore, theme parks thrive better on the fringe of cities instead of landlocked within a major city.

As much as I loved Astroworld in my youth, looking back at it the very last time I went to it, about a few months before it closed down. It looked like a old rotten, death trap waiting to fail.

Astroworld, was run by the agency of Six Flags, they are not very successful anywhere, besides a few key cities. They are terrible management.

Metro Houston during the Six Flags era was 33% less in population than it is now. Higher demand now.
When it was closed, immediately it sparked thousands of attention here.

EQA, will be a success. That is nothing surprising.

By the way, what is with your posts today? You have sounded very frustrated and a bit angry in nearly all of them, I feel obligated to ask, is everything okay?

To Scarface713: It better be Snow Mountain Texas, thats the one I really could ask for! But I will take all this with a grain of salt for the second park.

Oh yeah..it's a go. Just like renovating the Astrodome, a sophisticated public transit system, Waterlights District. Full steam ahead.

This amusement park will never happen. They should just let that area stay natural instead of trashing it with a sure to fail amusement park. We already have the Kemah Boardwalk. That's enough.
