That's exactly my point though, it ISN'T in the Heights. As a proud Heights yuppie, it's an important distinction

This Walmart isn't close to the med center, nor is it in the Heights. High end employers usually dont look where Walmarts are when deciding to do business somewhere.

America made the choice to be a service-centered economy back in the early 1990's, if not before. International trade means physical products will be made in the cheapest coutry in the world. Developed countries will provide services. Even some services can be outsorced. Dental vacations are on the rise, for one thing.

That's not entirely true. Corporations did. I don't think it was up to America.

Just to clarify the "new store" mentioned in the OP (the one at 45 @ Crosstimbers in "North Houston") is itself "close" to the Heights, but that is not the store (the one being debated, off of Washington) that is even closer to (but mistakenly described as "in") the Heights. That should clear that up!
