I am currently have my home built in Ella Crossing and it is a very nice subdivison. The neigborhood is one way in and one way out. The apartment complex isn't right next door, there is a undeveloped property between the subdivison and the apartments. Once you pass Richey Rd going towards Airtex that is where the trouble starts that end of Ella is straight ghetto to the max. I have did several drive bys of this subdivison before a final decision was made and it is very very quite at night there aren't any people hanging out or walking the streets other than the school children when school is dismissed.

I live there and just got my car vandalized. Son got mugged. New neighbor is STEALING our water. We haven't even been here a full year yet. Ready to move, looking to see *IF* we can break our loan or w/e so we can move. (probably can't) There are some nice neighbors. I think the front section is "nice" but the back section is another story. There are lots of high school kids who are just bad - it seems. I know they mugged my son and I think they vandalized my car. (and we are quiet neighbors so no one should have anything against us) but it's tooooo dark outside and can't see... I guess you get what you pay for... go somewhere nicer. (what sucks is that this house was what I could afford, I'm just trying to make it!)

I live in this Ella Crossing neighborhood and have been here since October 2011. I can say that, at the beginning, there were questionable people going door to door asking to "sample" certain products or services who were actually scoping out homes to rob later. According to the construction foreman (neighborhood wasn't finished till 2012 or 2013) this was due to the fact that our block was relatively undeveloped at the time and it's a new homeowner type community. There were also incidents with large groups of high school kids from Westfield hosting fights near Ella Road but within the actual neighborhood. The locals sheriffs got involved last year and since then, there have been virtually zero incidents involving high school kids in this area of the neighborhood (I live towards the front, near Ella Road). Most of the neighbors are great and welcoming. My main annoyances are generally barking dogs and the marching band from the high school rehearsing too early in the morning on Saturdays. I was awoken once with the bass drums rattling my house before 6am on a Saturday 2 or 3 weeks in a row. I emailed the principal and so far it hasn't been a problem since he told me it was reasonable for me to ask them to wait until 8am. For what it's worth, my wife and I are white and while there is a majority of black and hispanic families here, we certainly don't feel out of place culturally. The addition of the MI3 conference/athletic center added to property value but also gives a slight annoyance in terms of parking as their lots are too small to accommodate all their attendees and they tend to park on the streets in front of the homes nearest the building (which includes my home). This is only minor and only happens 1-2 months out of the year so it's not really that big of a deal as they are mostly courteous about where and how they park. My home has an alarm system and I keep my blinds closed when I'm not home. I'm not aware of any excess crime within the neighborhood but I will say that I wouldn't walk towards and venture out onto 1960 on foot for any reason unless I had to but the neighborhood itself is totally fine. Hope this helps any future homeowners.

I also wanted to mention, the apartment complex directly next to the athletic center next to the neighborhood is a retirement community for people aged 50+ and as far as I know it poses little to no risk as far as crime or vandalism. It had just been built right as my wife and I were buying our home.

Do you live in the duplex area in the back? I would also be wondering how you could know your neighbors are stealing your water unless you actively see them do it and choose to say nothing about it. Even at the front, houses are very close together but I wouldn't let something like that go unchecked, especially since it's an expense. And your son got mugged IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD?? I'd like to know how that happened because the police have been fairly responsive to complaints at the front when the kids from the high school were hosting Fight Club in my driveway and behind my house last year. I do know one of my neighbors' kids got accosted at home but it was because of something that happened at school, according to her. Just curious.
