Has this site fullfilled your needs..?

I dropped the nickel the other day and signed up in hopes of finding a reputable contractor to build a new deck. Very disappointed with the results found on this site.

Just curious, what your experience has been ....

I am not a fan of Angie's List because when you give feedback about a service provider, you can't do so anonymously. So most of the time, people are only going to leave positive feedback because really, are you going to leave negative feedback about a contractor when the person could track you down and do something to retaliate?

It causes the ratings to be skewed in the positive direction and not reliable.

Really?
Heck ya I would. If the service sucked, you're gonna hear about it.

I signed up a few months back. It has come in handy and I found a great guy when I needed sheetrock work done. Would definitely use him again.

I've used Angie's in Austin and find it to be a mixed bag. Better to go with word-of-mouth from people you trust if possible. And, the subscription thing sucks.

I have had very good luck with an HVAC guy.
Everything else, the reviews must have been written by their moms.
Also, I don't think they vet their very own deal of the day. The carpet cleaner was awful.
I used to like them. When they started advertising for the Home Depot, I stopped.

I'm an Angie's List believer. I've hired the following with great results:

1. Gutter replacement.
2. Wrought Iron fence/gate installation.
3. Landscaper
4. Dry Cleaning
5. Pet Grooming/Boarding

All worked out great.

What I don't like:

Mail I just throw away.
Phone calls from them. Annoying.

Ronnie

Ronnie - Would you mind sharing the iron gate contractor info/price. I have a 15ft porch and would like to have an iron gate. What height gates to ppl generally have?

Thanks

Angie's list didn't work for me. I picked 2 Heating & Cooling contractors who instead of fixing my problem tried to sell me a complete system. I finally found someone in the phone book who replaced my fan motor and capacitor.
