Centerpoint just cut down a tree in our backyard and of course they leave everything behind. Anybody know how much to have somebody come out and grind the stump down? Thanx in advance!

Default Easier to get someone else to do it...

The quickest, easiest way is to pay someone to come and do it. There are services which do nothing but grind stumps. I had to remove a huge, diseased Red Oak tree from my home a few years ago, and I think I paid about $75.00 for the guy to come out and remove the stump. Work is fast, and he grinded the stump down about six inches below the soil line. I noticed the other day that the area is spongy, and so I guess the remains are rotting, but no big deal, I'll just fill with dirt.

Hi There

I had a stump ground out this past Monday. It was a large pygmy date palm that died this past winter. Husband and I spend 3 days trying to dig it out but it was too fibrous. We used Frontier Tree Services. The guy was excellent. He came out the same day I called and took care of it. It cost $125. Their number is 281-391-2138.

If you have a pickup truck or access to one, you might consider renting a stump grinder and doing it yourself if on a budget. I've done this several times myself and will be doing it again shortly. We're having some large pine trees cutdown to get ready for a swimming pool install and I will be grinding those stumps plus some others. There are plenty of equipment rental places around town that have stump grinders (including some Lowes and Home Depot locations). They aren't hard to use.
