I like the entire area from Wayside to Griggs to 75th to Harrisburg, although around Harrisburg it gets a bit hardscrabble. Mason Park is a beautiful park with a great view of Houston's skyline.

I like the near downtown along Harrisburg blvd. It's a nice area with a very different feel than the rest of Houston. It is mainly a Mexican neighborhood and a lot of the buildings are older and closer together and you actually see a good amount of people walking on the streets and a good amount of small, privately owned shops. I also like the amount of taco trucks and cheap food. I have never encountered problems in all of my time I have spent there but it is supposed to be a higher-crime area. I would still like to move there, though.

I think people who want suburban living should consider the area near Scarsdale and 45 because it is still close enough to the city that you have easy, street access to public transportation but it is a quiet, peaceful, and clean area. It is also quite diverse...many people from the near-East, the Indian subcontinent, and Asia. This also brings a more diverse food scene than you would get in your generic cookie-cutter suburb. There's a Hong Kong Market out there, too.

I think the warehouse district isn't mentioned enough. It's a cool area and I'd love to live there.

Everywhere else sucks.

I gotta throw in my home neighborhood Acres Homes. Acres Homes is one of, if not the first black neighborhoods in Houston. At one time it was the largest unincorporated community in the South. It's a wooded, urban/inner-city community in NW Houston. The western portion of Acres Homes has a suburban, rural feel to it. There's a lot of history behind this 'hood. It's very blighted I'm not gonna lie, but at the same time you can spot people riding horses through the rural parts of AH. Yes, it's a well-known high crime area but what most people don't know is that there are nice, pretty well-kept areas of AH where homes there sell for at least $150K, if not a little more. AH is one of the neighborhoods that has consistently avoided gentrification, largely because residents don't want the historical character threatened. One thing about Acres Homes, we love our neighborhood and rep it proudly.
