Hi everyone,

We are moving to Houston from Maryland in less than 3 months - to get closer to family. We have considered many home purchase options, but with the uncertainty of our job situations, we've decided that renting is the best short-term housing solution.

The issue is that we are selling our house in MD and thus have a lot of stuff that would need to go into storage if we rented a 2 or 3 BR apartment. So, we are hoping that many of you have ideas regarding the approach towards renting a house. We are hoping to land in the Sugarland or the First Colony area due to its proximity to a few family members.

Basically, would you recommend internet searches and calling rentors directly or perhaps going through a real estate agency?

Any ideas or folks with experience in this area?

Thanks.

We are currently renting the house where we live. We found it through the internet on HAR.com. Tons of listings. We then contacted a realtor who showed us a bunch of different houses we hadn't even seen. Whole process went relatively smoothly.

Thanks movingtohouston for the reply. Did you need to buy renter's insurance as well?
