What's the best thing you've ever gotten from a Goodwill store?

Hey what's up with all the goodwill collection spots popping up in every strip center around town? Can't imagine that all that space is donated. Who is paying for those space? And is goodwill solely selling donations in their stores or are they taking the merchandise to resale shops and profiting? Anybody know?

I can't respond to the question about who is paying for the collection locations but I do know that in the case of Goodwill, they actively sell the donated merchandise in their retail stores. To my mind it is the best way to make sure the clothing et al goes directly to the people. Some charities collect stuff and sell it off by the pound but Goodwill (and I think the Salvation Army as well) make the merchandise directly available to those in need (or to anyone else who likes a bargain). I just made a huge donation to the Goodwill donation center on Eldridge and the guy there told me that my clothes would very likely show up at their store across from West Oaks Mall.
