The article mentioned Florida which gets a lot of moisture. If I had to guess, I'd think Denver or Salt Lake City will problems long before any place in Texas except maybe for El Paso.

The northern fort bend county communities will get water from the City of Houston as well (Cinco Ranch, Grand Lakes, Seven Meadows, Cross Creek Ranch, etc.). The North Fort Bend Water authority is beginning projects to buy surface water from the City of Houston plant off Bellaire. Not sure about the accuracy of running out of water but water is going to be much more expensive over the next 10 years to pay for the large infrastructure projects it takes to pipe this surface water all over the metro area. The price increase is made up of 2 components one is the pumpage fees charged to residents by these water authorities which are projected at this time to be up around $2.10/1000gallons that help pay for these infrastructure projects and second the revising of water rate structures to encourage water conservation, very much like the City of Houston has already done to their water rate structure. The rate increases significantly as you reach the upper tiers of monthly water use.

This past year we paid $185 for water, $115 for sewer and NHCRWA $415 plus our MUD tax of 1200. This distribution facility tax just keeps going up.
