I have been looking at realtor.com with regard to houses on the market in Katy, however, I can't find anything that seems to have any land with it. Are there any neighborhoods that have more than just 1/4 - one acre of land available?

Good luck finding that at a "reasonable" price around Katy. However, Katy Lakes Estates north of Katy has 1 acre plus lots, at $80,000/an acre. I dont think there is much on the south side of IH10 with land. Other than that you might have to go further west in Waller County.

Regarding Katy Lakes Estate, it is all in what you are looking for. The land these lots are on, are open (no trees), and you can see EVERY other house in the development. Nice houses though...what for high water on Pitts Road.

Be careful where you buy. North of Katy toward FM 529 the roads go under water after we get a lot of rain. After all it was all rice fields. Why do you think they are making all the new subdivisions with the lakes? They use the dirt to build up the area where the houses will be built. West of Katy there is Remington Trails. Nice area, but the airport is going up across the street. As far as finding something with a 1/4 acre or more of land it is hit or miss. It depends on how much you have to spend.

What school district would Waller County be and how far outside of Katy is it?

Royal ISD (Brookshire) serves the south end, also Hempstead ISD is NW and Waller ISD in NE. Some of Waller Co is included in Katy ISD, but everthing in Katy ISD is pricey. TXLS is a good web site for land west of Houston.

Royal ISD is a small school district, about 15 min from Katy. Same problems as all districts, same good points, they have a nice campus, all schools located at one site between Brookshire and Pattison. Dependent on how far of a drive you want, Bellville has beautiful property that has not skyrocketed like Katy (at the moment).
