My husband will be working near Hobby. We were told on another post that Pearland would be a great place to live. We found several houses in Sugar Land we were interested in. I have only two questions...
How bad would the commute be from Sugar Land to Hobby around 6AM? And is Pearland similar to Sugar Land?

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm thinking about 45 minutes during rush hour. Maybe a bit more.

I'd really consider Pearland around Pearland parkway or 288. You'd have a much shorter and better commute.

We really wanted to live in The Woodlands but that's way too far so started to consider Sugar Land. I've read on several other post that some subdivisions in Pearland are having problems due to the land fill. What nice communities would you recommend that are far from that area of Pearland?

At 6am, northern Clear Lake is 15 minutes from Hobby.

If you wish to stay in Sugar Land, I would recommend the First Colony area north of highway 6 and east of highway 59. You can take Hwy 90 & 610 look to get to Hobby or BW8 and Telephone Road - will take you 30-40 minutes - its a commute but not a bad commute.

Not sure why you would choose to make that commute unless you are used to heavy traffic from a larger city. I know 3 people form work that commute from Sugar Land to Clear Lake, and that's because they have to and didn't necessarily choose to. Pearland or Friendswood would be better choices. And listen to tstone. Clear Lake is really close, too. If you search this forum you will find other people moving to Houston who found the quality of life in older Clear lake + the short commute from Clear Lake to be more than enough to sway them.

Thanks for the advise. I'll look into those areas and try to narrow it down.
