Houston (much like Dallas and Texas in general) is at a crossroads of cultures. You cant really pin-point it to one culture. Houston is a cross of Gulf, Southern, and Hispanic. Dallas (and DFW) is a cross of Western, Great Plains, Southern, and Hispanic. Austin is a cross of Southwestern and Hispanic. San Antonio is...well just Hispanic.

I think Blacks have their own unique culture, they have integrated Southern culture or American culture but with a totally different spin of their own. Their cultural experience is very different from that of the white Southerners or White Americans.

Yes but Houston's black culture is very much linked with the black culture of the other states in the South, wouldn't you agree. I would agree with you with White, Hispanic, Asian, and Indian Houstonians. But it's interesting that I see you say that for black Houstonians.

Johnnie Taylor was great. My family prefers salsa, marengue, and mariachi.

A&M, check KTSU 90.9 F.M. and KCOH 1430 A.M. I believe you will approve of the format. Listen for Donald Sands.

A&M, Johnnie Taylor still has a huge following here. I think he was originally from Dallas. Too many memories.........It's getting harder to think of an alibi.
