[LEFT]Hi I’m moving to Houston (I think)
Problem is I’ve never visited, however I have heard very good things about the city.
We are moving because my husband's job has promoted him to regional manager over their Texas budget. It’s a great career move for him and though he is a little worried about it, I’m actually excited.
I have a 5 year old daughter who is really smart and I want her to take advantage of everything she can in elementary school.
I have heard amazing things about the public school systems in Texas so I’m actually pretty confident that her education will definitely be better than in FL public schools.
I need some help from Houston citizens.
Can you please let me know which areas are good to live in taking in consideration the schools for my daughter and also we don’t necessarily want to live to far out from the city.
We are looking for nice affordable apartment complexes which are decent looking and safe. We are also open to renting a home.
Help please?

Eternally grateful.
PS: for the first couple of months, I will be home getting my kid used to Texas (she thinks there is nothing else in Texas but sand and tumbleweed thanks to go Diego go!)
After this I will be looking for a job within the healthcare public relations or contracting field. Traffic would be nice to minimize as well

Welcome to Texas!

Houston is REALLY spread out. You really want to find a home in relation to where you and your husband work in order to minimize commute time. If you give the part of town where you guys are working, some people can chime in with the closest good neighborhoods. There are good schools all around the city (and bad ones too!)

LOL at the sand and tumbleweeds. That's West Tx. I was in Orlando last month, and it looks a LOT like Houston (South Houston at least) without all the ponds and fewer palm trees. That's a fun city!

Like DanielWayne said, work location is needed - but also rent budget.
