Hey everyone??

What is, in your opinion, the best Catholic church in Friendswood (77546) area??

Also, what is your favorite Catholic church in the Sugar Land, (77479) area?

I will be attending church in both areas, some weekends in Friendswood, others in Sugar Land, and I just moved here from PA, so I wanted your help. I am looking for a church that is beautiful, the messages great, and friendly people.

Thank you!

Default Sugar Land....

I've been to St Laurence in Sugar Land, it was "nice". 'Have not been to mass in Friendswood, but really, why should it matter where you go?

'Ask not what the Church can do for you, but what you can do for the Church'... not an exact quote, but you get the idea; the Church is what you make it, no matter how it looks.

Welcome to Houston.

I wouldn't criticize anyone for searching for a beautiful church...the right setting can be very inspiring for worship.

I agree...Also I don't want to go to a church that I am thinking about what I need to do after I get out of church and what I am going to eat. Boring is boring no matter how you put it.

What makes a church feel welcoming & inspirational is going to be different based on what someone is looking for or what moves someone.

We attended St. Laurence briefly - beautiful church! But we felt "lost" there with it having such a huge congregation. We have friends who love to attend St. Laurence because it's a beautiful church and THEY feel at home there. After hearing their glowing recommendation, we decided to keep trying but we never felt inspired by the homilies. Never once had our friends mentioned feeling inspired by the message; they were inspired by the look of the building.

We started attending St. Angela Merici in Missouri City (now located within Sienna Plantation). At the time we started going there, it was located in a gym. To be honest, I found St. Angela on-line BEFORE finding St. Laurence but balked at the idea of going to church in a gym. I was judging the proverbial book by its cover.

From day 1 of attending Mass at St. Angela, we felt at home. The pastor has much we can relate to (he was married, has adult children & small grandchildren) and his homilies are inspiring. The parishioners are warm and welcoming. For me, it is an example of judging something by looks rather than by substance. I am so glad that I decided to give St. Angela a chance because she and its church family have truly become our family.

OP - I think you need to attend Mass at some of the Sugar Land churches to find what inspires YOU. St. Laurence would definitely be closest to where you will be (based on zip). Hope you find it to your liking - many have.

The church is what you make of it. The building does not matter. Just keep with God where ever you are.

Lame. Tens of millions have died in the religion-free paradises of the former Soviet Union, China, etc. that Lennon imagined. Leave the OP alone and go troll somewhere else.

I was not trolling and I meant no harm to the OP.

The message is not lame.

The Christian Crusades were lame and all of the wars and conditioning of religion is lame.

Spirituality is not lame. Created religions are lame.
