My family and I will be relocating from the Caribbean to Houston next July - 7 months from now - YAYYYY! I may be working from home with my current job if I'm allowed to move with it. There is a job in Fort Bend County's website that my husband is interested in. Is it to early to apply even though we are not moving until early July? We are just trying to get an idea on how long the hiring process typically takes. While it's no guarantee he will be hired... we'll like to be prepared as much as possible... thanks so much.

The hiring process for many jobs is 3-6 months. Dont move here w/o a job though.

The budget shortfall for the state in the next 2 year is significant. Tax revenue and fees are down a lot. There will probably be cut backs to avoid inevitable layoffs.
Have a job lined up before you come.

Thanks everyone, I'm certainly listening and we will not move without jobs... that's for sure. I think we'll wait a bit and will apply in February for the job if it's still available. Thanks again.
