I’m going to move to Houston in a few days, I’m 26 years old, no kids and I wanted to know what the best place to live in Houston is (SAFE). I’m looking for 1 bedroom apartment (from $500 to $700). I am going to work in zip code 77081 but I don’t mind to commute to a safe place. Any opinions or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!!! Happy New Year!!!

I used to live in 77081 at 5401 Chimney Rock Apartments. It's no Mayberry, but it's safe and gated. Not sure what their 1-bedroom rents are like, but 2 bedroom was $710 when I left in 2009 (I bought a house in Katy). Main complaint: the buildings are from the 70s so they don't have much in the way of insulation, so expect high electricity bills when you use your AC in the summer.
