My wife and I moved here roughly 2 years ago fresh out of college when I got my job. We both graduated college at the same time and she is certified to teach in Texas. She has been struggling finding a job within Klein or Cyfair districts being a teacher and even at being a teachers aide. She is trying to get into substitute teaching also and has attended the klein sub orientation. At the end of the orientation everyone was told now you just have to wait for the e-mail with your login info to the system and this is a long process. It has been 3 months since and hasnt heard a word. Anyone have any advice that might help? Thanks!

Call the Central office.
Two things are at play here. The state is tapped out, and must have a balanced budget. Everyone is waiting for the Comptroller's report as to the funds that will be available for the next 2 years. The best guess is that we will be 24 billion short.
School funding will be cut and layoffs will happen.
In the last session, the tax structure for schools was changed to allow for less money from property owners. A business tax was to pick up the slack. Anybody paying attention knew there would be a shortfall in that tax.
With not enough money in the designated revenue, and a 24B dollar budget shortfall, nobody is hiring school teachers.
A friend subs for KISD anytime she wants. She has been doing it for 8 years. They just changed to a central calling system, rather that the individual schools calling their own subs.
