What dim sum restaurants in Houston serve food from mobile carts wheeled from table to table? (Bellaire: kitchen, best)

My experience is that carts are a sign of a busy restaurant, meaning the food tends to be freshly-made. Ordering from a menu tends to be a drag because some restaurants take forever to microwave/steam/bake whatever dishes have been ordered.

Go on Bellaire China Town and there are plenty of good dim sum places with carts Kim Sum, Ocean Palace and many more

Don't most dim sum places serve from the carts? Even the little hole in the wall that we go to on Bellaire that only has about 8 tables does.

Fung's Kitchen off of 59 is quite good - a notch above Ocean Palace, I think. Gets very crowded on weekends.

Many of the dim sum restaurants only use the carts on weekends, when business is especially heavy. On other days, they make us order off menu cards. The poster above mentioned Fung's Kitchen (which Wendy and I also like), and that is how they do it there.

My experience is that you can't judge a dim sum place by whether you see food served from carts or not. I've gone to (supposedly) good dim sum places in Houston, ordered items from the carts, and it tasted bad. Then I've gone to places and ordered off menu cards, and it tasted great.

I believe that if a restaurant serves good dim sum, it should taste good whether or not it comes from a cart or not. Your mileage may vary.

Agree - the carts don't guarantee quality. I've had plenty of experiences of cold dishes (that are not supposed to be cold) coming off of carts. I've only been to one non-cart dim sum place in Houston - Yum Yum Cha in Rice Village - where everything was properly heated, but downside is that the selection of dishes was much smaller than one of the big cart places, and you definitely miss out on the cart experience, which is part of the fun.

Ocean Palace on Bellarie. It's the best one in Houston IMHO.

I've never been to dim sum place that didn't serve on carts, but I'm not sure what that has to do with quality.

Fung's Kitchen and Ocean Palace are both excellent.
