Cross Creek is farther out than Cinco, thus a little farther to drive for retail needs (<2 miles), but for the difference in price compared to Cinco it is something I would consider while you can get in early still. Cross Creek is the next step after Cinco Southwest is done in a couple of years or less. Newland just bought another 500 acres near Cinco Ranch but not contiguous therefore, they will be farther out than Cross Creek when it begins development. Retail will come soon the Cross Creek area due to the large amount of roof tops being built. Sometimes you can wish and hope for the retail to be there and then wished it wasn't. Just ask the folks in Seven Meadows that live near the HEB at Fry Road and Grand Parkway.

To give my opinion of the first post, Cardiff Ranch and Pine Mill Ranch are not the same league as Cinco and Cross Creek. They are nice communities but really do not compare with Cinco and Cross Creek. Bridgeland is very nice but depending on where you are going to work that could be a very tough commute down 290, just like many other have said.

Just my pet peeve... I live in Cinco SW... Kids go to school with Cross Creek Ranch. Please, please do not move out to Cross Creek and then COMPLAIN constantly how far away everything is. It shouldn't be a surprise... When you drive 5 miles from the nearest grocery to get home. Yes dance class, church, birthday parties, bank, etc... Will be a bit of a drive. When you drive past nothing but housing and open land, what do you expect??? Embrace the drive, but please do not complain to the rest of us about it.

Okay, rant over. Carry on ...

I'm sure retail/commercial development is on the way out there. It's obvious right?

Not necessarily. Commercial loans are the ones attracting scrutiny now. The big guys, like Kroger, will get out there when it's financially feasible, which won't be for awhile.

MsDonalds are individually owned franchises - they will not go out there until the area can support it.

Oh ok! I was wondering because some posters were saying how the "far away" subdivision is closer in than what folks think it is.

Good grief they are all WAAAAY out here. New construction Cinco is within sight on CCR. If you are worried about how far it is to movies or dining options think how far it is to the Zoo,a decent Museum or an Astros game.

I live in PMR. My dry cleaner man is on some sort of board out in the area as he owns several locations. Strangely enough, there is a piece of land where a Kroger and a Lowe's were expected to go in right in front of Cinco SW and not far from Cross Creek, Westheimer Lakes, etc. I was told that the Cinco residents are the ones fighting it. Not sure how true all of this is, but if I knew which residents they were, I would knock them in the head.

Seriously? You build a house that backs up to a giant empty lot and there are signs that say "proposed commercial property" do not be shocked when it might actually happen.

And to answer questions on distance, I actually do not think it is so bad. Again, I live in Pine Mill Ranch and am quite happy there. I drive to the Beltway and for work and take the Westpark Toll in every morning. On most days, it takes me no more than 30 minutes door to door.

I guess driving 5 miles to get to a store really does not bother me. I have peace and quiet, less crime, pleasant neighbors, opportunities to get outside and be active, biking paths, etc. as a trade off.
