We're moving to Houston because hubby got transferred. Until, I'm able to find a decent job, our rent range can't be over $650 for a 2 bedroom. Unfortunately, I already know I'm locked out of most good neighborhoods, so where can I find a decent apartment for under $650? Time is of the essence since he has to show up at his new site on Feb 14th.

Get an apartment locator. Using city data for this is a bad idea.

What area will your husband be working in? That could narrow it down a bit.

I would check craigslist for garage apartments. I know it's not always optimal for couples but there are some larger ones. When I moved to Houston, that was my budget and I found a nice garage apartment in The Heights as well as a few other possibilities in smaller apartment complexes.

Montrose is another area I would check. I might even check some of those apartment complexes just outside of 610 near I-10/Chimney Rock/Independence Dr. They are older but very affordable. All have decent commutes to the galleria area.
