My husband and I are moving to Houston in April. He will be working in the medical center and Memorial City area. We have a 2 year old daughter and will most likely send her to private school as she gets older, so school districts aren't of high priority (but would be nice for re-sale).
We are interested in a 3-4 bedroom home in an established "family-oriented" neighborhood with other young families.
Any thoughts on Briargrove, Briargrove Park, Spring Valley, etc?
Thank you in advance!

I lived in Briargrove and grew up in the area. Great neighborhood. The public school is well reguarded as far as public primaries go. Huge PTO. However, you will find many in that neighborhood will be in private school, and the majority in private by middle school. The neighborhood Middle school is getting better and rebuilt, the High School is rather a pain to get to.

Briargrove Park is next to some not so great areas. The schools are horrible. Great family neighborhood though, and most choose to go to one of the many fantastic private schools on the west side of Houston.

Spring Valley has changed a lot over the years. Most parts go to the better SBISD public schools. The area has a reputation for flooding during heavy rain events. Very much a mishmash of small, old houses and new McMansion types. Less expensive per sq. foot than Briargrove though.

You might want to check into Frostwood, Fonn Villas and Wilchester. They are located in the area with the best public schools in this city. Only a couple miles from Spring Valley and Briargrove Park. They are right next to/in Memorial City and many of the top private schools are about a 15 minutes drive from there.

The above are just MHOs.

Cant go wrong with any...You will get more for your money in Briargrove Park. Very family friendly with a nice park pool and playground.
