My family is relocating to Houston and considering a house in Lamar. Our kids will be in elementary school in a couple years. From what I can tell Lamar is better than ever before and getting better. However, everyone I talk to in Houston says to stay away from Lamar.

The school near the house we are looking at was Exemplary last year. I know the management can change but this seems like a great start.

I'd love to hear people's comments about how Lamar is now.

Thanks!

LCISD can only improve with all the new homes being built.

My only experience with this district left me in tears:

I was out in that area one weekend & stopped to buy something from the high school fund raising booth. Three Senior boys were in charge of my transaction. Sadly, none of them were able to correctly add up my purchase via mental math. (I only bought a few things and the total was less than $25.) Seriously, all three boys tried to add it up out loud & not one boy got it right. Then one decided to add it up on paper. At this point, a PTA Mom was watching over his shoulder as he did the math. Guess what? She had to correct his answer!
