Not my problem. The statement was that evacuees had never done anything that local criminals hadn't done. I called bull****. Don't care how many did what. I defy you to find a local criminal that abused a FEMA credit card.

End of story.

Just sayin'...

Just like I'm sure not one Houston Ike victim inflated costs for insurance reimbursement, or got FEMA food stamps, or used insurance proceeds for anything except repairs Or what about the thousands in Houston that abuse welfare...getting paid under the table (illegally) but lying about their income and bleeding the gov to death

I think it's safe to say that any criminal, local or not, would abuse a FEMA card that works like cash. Isn't "taking advantage" in every criminal's nature?

And anyway, I was originally comparing criminal acts (the topic was brought up as if ppl were scared of the evacuees). Technically, they could buy whatever they wanted to on their FEMA card. If they wanted to spend $1k on a designer bag out of the $2k total pay out that they got for their land, house, and possessions that got destroyed, it wasn't illegal... stupid, but not illegal.
