I've heard rumors that Metro will be starting a bus service between Pearland and the medical center. Does anybody else have any info on this? We are thinking about moving down to Pearland, but I'm a bit worried about the commute to the medical center. Thanks!

The goal by METRO is to get a Pearland to Texas Medical Center Park & Ride route in place by January 2008 (if not earlier). It would basically start at the intersection of SH 288 and FM 518 and then head on into the Med Center.

The closer to 288 you are the better your commute will be, regardless of other factors. It's not a very bad drive. Straight shot up 288, exit Old Spanish Trail/Holcombe, go through the first light and left at the second (Holcombe). When you are there you will know it.

Pearland is NOT in the Metro district and was not voted in again by the residents of pearland or Brazoria County 2 or 3 years ago. Due to this fact Pearland can not get multimodel transportation choices such as commuter rail or bus lines or even a park and ride. Metro can not afford to put Park and Ride or rail stations in an area that doesn't help pay for it. I know a director at Metro and they say that until it is voted on again-no mass transit. It would be great to rail here just like in Philly where I am from. Ride the bus to the station and the train into downtown (Or here..the Med Center)

Ah, it's great to see the same old shortsightedness that got us into the mess we're in now alive and well!

There is a "park-and-ride" at 288 and Highway 6, in the southwestern corner of the intersection. No Metro logos though, but I see cars parked there often when I pass by there. What exactly comes there to pick people up?

I will resurrect this thread with a recent development. Apparently, there has been a break-through in the saga to find a location for a park-and-ride along the 288 corridor in Pearland. Check out the link:
