What's cheaper.......to have parquet wood floors sanded and refinished a different darker color OR having new wood floors put in??

Thanks

Depends on what you like and the kind of parquet you have and what they would be replaced with. We had white oak herringbone floors refinished. IMO, it was a better choice than replacing with what is sold currently by most flooring stores. I even like those old little strips of wood parquet better than most engineered laminate wood floors. My son was going to have those refinished, but all that was required was a good cleaning and waxing. Floors, etc. was the 3rd. company to refinish mine. We had them refinished when we bought the house. Two years later the hose came off of the washer and we did it again. That company did such a lousy job, it needed doing again. Floors, etc. is great.

That is exactly what it is.....the little strips of wood type of parquet, it is maybe 20 years old or so, in top shape but I want a color change........something darker. I will have to check out Floors etc. About how much did you pay Crone? and for how many rooms?

Word of warning though, dark wood shows dust like crazy. Be prepared to dustmop the floors quite often.

We had the living, dining, study, and 2 halls. It was about 1000 square feet. Floors, etc. charged around $4000 to sand, stain and wax. I did not want poly or varnish. They put down all new shoe mold. I also paid $1000 extra for their dust abatement system. Just to sand, stain and poly or wax was $2500. They come out a couple of times a year to clean and wax. They charge $150 for that. Have them come out and give you a price. We had a water leak about 18 months ago. I thought we would have to refinish again. I called, she came out and said leave it alone. In a few months, the floors were all dry and perfect again. Floors, etc. Sandra Burnett 713 880 8888 They are in the Heights, I am in Champions. She did my son and DIL. My DIL was very pleased. They also got very dark. They have 2 cats. The floors are always clean when I go there. But, they call me white glove.
