Actually, people do. If anything it may have to do with athletics (Carl Lewis, Hakeem Olajuwon, etc and their football team appearing off and on into the Top 25). But those second tier UC commuter schools are really unknown even in that department.

UH Law School is actually pretty respected. I think about top 50.

Do you work in TX? That may explain it. If you worked in say, the Bay Area, your coworkers might come from a different set of colleges. In that case, I'd say it would be rare to find someone from UT Austin, and UH would be unheard of there.

I know the people at my company who work in the Bay Area office. Mostly they come from Stanford, UChicago, Harvard with some from Berkeley. In L.A. office USC is more represented than UCLA. The others UC's are not. I just checked and UCI, UCSD, UCR all offer MBA's. The only one that doesn't is UCSB.

The pics of downtown Houston show a lot of parking lots. Time to turn those into parks. Other than that there are some nice pics of Houston.
