Not to mention you can find just about anything you could possibly imagine in Houston as you could in LA minus a few things mainly the mountains & damn near perfect weather year round although some of SoCal's beaches can get pretty chilly even in the middle of Summer versus the Texas Coast where you can surf without a wetsuit well on into late Fall-early Winter unlike in Cali. where Pacific water temps would be unbearably cold without one on at that time of year.

On the flip side you could never ski or snow board in Houston.

Nah, LA's skyline wasn't impressive at all. My friend even told me that Houston's Uptown/Galleria skyline was equivalent to LA's downtown.
Even so, I felt both cities were similar. Look, I'm not saying H-Town & LA are carbon copies; I just feel they are similar in tone/style, OK?
BTW, West Hollywood was fabulous!

Well, things are cheaper and the peeps are nicer....but LA still felt really close to H-town to me. Seriously, just take away the hills & celebs .....

When I used to be asked to describe Houston to out of town friends, I said it combines the sprawl of LA with the funk of New Orleans.

Have a blast with the Final Four

Houston is completely different from LA! People in Houston are more friendly! You can actually see the sky in Houston since LA is so polluted. Everything is cheaper here!

LA is not a good place to raise a family!

That's exactly the way I've described it in the past, "LA-East with a New Orleans flavor".

LA has perfect weather? I think you have it confused with San Diego. Last time I was in LA it was like 103 degrees every day.

Not even close. Los Angeles is filled with all the Entertainment Industry energy while the whole city is laid out on hills, mountains and valley's. Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica are worlds different than Galveston and Kemah. Culver City's "Screenland" theme has never been mimicked anywhere much less Houston.

The freeways constructed for easier driving in Los Angeles and the drivers aren't as wreckless as they are here.

lol so true! the summers in LA are brutal and the suns rays actually burn your skin. I'm not a fan of their summers but prefer their winters.
