With your budget, you can lease a home with a yard near Post Oak if you'd like to play outside with your children. Any townhome/condo will not have much playroom but may offer some other amenities. I looked at HAR and found some really nice updated homes for no more than 4500/mon (4-5 beds, 2 baths, 2500+sqft). If you go with apartment/townhome/condo, you'd could be paying the same for a 2-3 bed and a little over 2000 sqft and no yard.
