The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office placed automated calls to residents tonight to say that there was an attempted home invasion in Preston Forest in New Territory today.
The residents were home and armed and shot at the invaders but missed and the invaders escaped. Walker Station Elementary and Cornerstone Elementary were briefly on lock down.
The Sheriff's Office asks anyone with info to call them. They are looking for 3 Hispanic males. Here is the Sheriff's contact info:
I don't think armed necessarily means sitting around the house with gun in hand. I would have to say my home is armed (and heavily at that) but it's not like I have one in my lap as I type.
When I am home I am always armed. And I don't do drugs or in the drugs business
My impression of a home invasion is they kicked the door in and it happens very fast. Most people would not be able to be armed that fast.

Yeah, that's what it seemed to me, too. Almost everytime there is one, it comes to light (unless someone was targeting a small business-owner) that the occupants were somehow involved with the home invaders in some way.
I know lots of people who keep weapons in easy access at home. I have a shotgun I can get out in about 30 seconds. Doing a home invasion in Texas is a great way to get killed.
I see your donut and will raise you a dozen donuts that this is a business owner that someone followed home.
I am not going to take that bet - because that's a real possibility. It would also explain the possibity of having the gun immediately, if the business owner carried large amounts of cash.
