There was an article in the Chronicle this week, Alan Silverman was talking about this limit (I think it was him, I may be mixed up). He said he is a HEAVY Internet user, plus he watches Netflix streaming every day and STILL he only used less than 100gb of his 250 limit.

Why does the 250gb limit matter to you? 99.99% of users will never hit it, and for the other .01%, let them pay more.

The most I've ever used in a month is about 50GB.
You would need multiple people downloading movies, video games, etc 24/7 on one account to even come close to the cap.

I don't know how reliable the tech was but he told me it's going to be like when TWC was bought out by Comcast. He said Xfinity is going to take over and Comcast is leaving. And he also said Xfinity is the largest cable provider which I haven't verified.

And Comcast should have new boxes for the Xfinity. Call your local office and take your old ones and get them replaced with the new ones.

Yes lets not care because it doesn't effect you TODAY. But what about tomorrow when everything will be streamed? Watching netflix movies in HD quality won't take long to reach if they ever up the quality to real BD standards.

Comcast/Xfinity is cable but normally do not have as many channels as Dish Network or Direct TV. As for having your choices, that all depends on your apartment manager/landlord. Some apartments allow mounting satellite dish, some don't. Some won't even allow Comcast, only AT&T Uverse. When you're not happy with it, you either move or wait until management changes.

You will have to call the apartment complex and ask.
I was able to have a DirecTV dish on my balcony at my old apartment complex, but some places may not allow it.
Also, most apartment complexes have cable services set up already.
It's usually not free though and it is sometimes some crappy local company providing the service.
If you have Time Warner Cable in your area, Comcast is pretty much the same thing.
Comcast took over TWC down here in Houston a few years ago.

Comcast and Xfinity are the same thing.
It's just a name change to make them appear to be a new, different company.
Different name, same old crappy service.

Do you ever leave the house (or your computer)?

Only a little mis-info. Xfinity is simply a rebranding of the Comcast service. Comcast=Xfinity.

Then pay more. I don't get unlimited fillups at the gas station. I've never understood why people believe they deserve unlimited Internet.

When it was first being rolled out, capacity was far larger than usage. So they could sell it unlimited. Now because of changing habits, some people use a BUNCH of bandwidth, and others, like me, not so much. Why should I subsidize someone who plays games all day and clogs up the pipes? Let THEM pay for the new cables they need to lay.

I think that's great. I also think you should pay for what you use.
