I just moved into an apartment in the Heights and the door has only a regular lock and a chain. I thought Texas requires to have a lock and a door bolt ? I've always had a lock and a security door bolt. I know the Heights is not crime ridden, but I do feel a little uneasy about it. Does anybody know?

Just ask your landlord to put one on.

I just would like to know if it's required. I want to say the TAA lease says it is. Then he would have to pay for it.

Hm " must install a doorknob lock or keyed deadbolt". Every door obviously already has a lock, so this would be in addition to it. That's how I read it. It also says that both aren't required on all doors if one French door has already both. So again that would be a yes.
