I guess it pretty much goes without saying that southeast Texas would be the heart of Texas' gator country, but the OP said that Houston was in the heart of all the gator country and I said "huh?" lol

It wouldn't be so bad, but our gators walk upright and wear cowboy boots and Stetsons.

I understand asking the question about the surrounding rural and suburban areas but asking about Houston? It is the 4th largest city in the US. You don't tend to see a lot of wild animals strolling around downtown. I think the zoo maybe has a gator but apart from that.....

I've lived here for 20 years and the only gators I've ever seen are at the zoo.
